Scott Vincent burst into comedy TV, in the services of funnyman Dave Chappelle. Vincent's reel happened to fall into the hands of folks at Comedy Central's Chappelle's Show and in no time at all he found himself shooting skits for the program. Not coincidentally, his segments have consisted mostly of commercials parodies like Wu-Tang Financial and Redman Toilet Cleaner. Vincent was no stranger to the lampoon, considering that some of his "serious" spots have spoofed TV shows, commercials and even amateur porn.
Vincent began his directing career while serving as Group Creative Director at Fallon, directing campaigns for Miller Lite, Archipelago, and Holiday Inn Express, before signing with Hungryman where his classics including ads for ESPN's iconic This is SportsCenter and multiple campaigns featuring The Slowskis, a famous animatronic turtle couple created by advertising agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners for Xfinity.
"What I think I bring to [directing] is that I know how precious an idea is," Vincent stated. "Having done it for a while, I know how hard it is to come up with a decent idea, and then keep it alive both internally and externally. If the idea has made it far enough to reach a director, while you want a director to bring their own style to it, you want to be sure that they understand that idea—and doesn’t try to make it his idea."
Scott's work across advertising, commercials, and TV have given him a keen perspective on humor. "If something's funny, it will be funny. If it isn't, no matter what you do, it won't be funny." Wow. Heavy.
